Tennessee State University is seeking an individual responsible for overseeing the operations of the Avon Williams Library. Responsibilities vary, requiring interpretive judgment, scheduling staff, teaching bibliographic instruction/information literacy classes, and understanding advanced research methodology, along with close collaboration with the faculty. The ideal candidate would be a highly innovative individual with proven leadership and management skills to motivate and supervise service-oriented staff and further develop customer-centered practices.
Qualifications
Leadership and management skills, excellent communication and interpersonal skills demonstrating ability to facilitate meetings and manage an energetic staff, especially in developing informational guides/resources, and delivery of quality customer service. A second masters or doctorate is preferred.

Experience in computer literacy and knowledge of automated library systems, preferably Innovative Interfaces
Experience in library instruction, marketing and public services

Supervisory skills in managing all functions of the library including establishing goals, assessment of the staff and the services, staff schedules and others
Supervisory Authority
Directly supervises 5 FTE
Work Hours | 8 am-4:30 pm
1:00 pm-9:30 pm evening shift
9 am-5:30 pm Saturday
Minimum Qualifications
Master's Degree in Library Science, or Library and Information Science (MLS/MLIS) from a graduate library program accredited by the American Library Association, and professional library experience, preferably in an administrative and/or managerial/supervisory capacity in an academic library and 5 years supervisory experience.
